rollback() or commit() error message
If you call either rollback or commit a 2nd time on the same transaction, or call both functions for that matter, the transaction has expired and you will get this exception:
CDbTransaction is inactive and cannot perform commit or roll back operations.
Using transactions within ActiveRecord
If you need to use a transaction within a model, here's a great example of an order object saving its billing/shipping addresses. A transaction is used in case either address does not save for any reason it'll back out of everything and throw an exception.
/** * Save the current order. In cart mode, this order will also save billing and shipping * @return bool * @throws \Exception */ public function save() { $transaction = $this->getDbConnection()->beginTransaction(); try { if (!parent::save()) { throw new Exception('Order did not save correctly'); } //if it's a shopping cart, save required elements if ($this->getScenario() == 'cart') { //save billing address if it has't been saved if ($this->billing_address_id == null && is_object($this->billingAddress)) { if (!$this->billingAddress->save()) { throw new Exception('Billing address did not save'); } $this->billing_address_id = $this->billingAddress->id; } //save shipping address if it hasn't been saved if ($this->shipping_address_id == null && is_object($this->shippingAddress)) { if (!$this->shippingAddress->save()) { throw new Exception('Shipping address did not save'); } $this->shipping_address_id = $this->shippingAddress->id; } } return true; } catch (\Exception $e) { $transaction->rollback(); Yii::log('Unable to save order: '.$e->getMessage(), \CLogger::LEVEL_ERROR, 'core.models.store.Order'); return false; }
